A Country Christmas At La Villita
Our 2011 holiday celebration was a great success. One of the ways I measure a successful event is the attendance. We had over 525 participants. I was so glad everyone came out to enjoy the holidays with us. This year we had the Meyer Anderson Band, a great group that everyone enjoyed and we hope to see and hear more of in 2012.
Julia Cheatwood, Ruby Chapman, Danny Castillo of Texas Disabled Veterans Association, and Gloria Ross helped Santa with his bag of gifts for the kids and young at heart. O'Reilly's Auto Parts sent over caps and koozies for the guys. We also want to thank Alamo Mobility and Ruth Ahrens Hurd for table decorations.
Melody and Tony Miller and friends ran the bake sale table that helps us cover some expenses of this event. We appreciate all your hard work!
Every year in the kitchen you will find Troy Banik and Augie Vargas getting the tamales and chili ready along with salad plates and Kiolbassa Sausage. Dianna Tison was on coffee and hot chocolate duty so everyone had something warm to wash down the wonderful pastry from the bake sale.
Volunteering were many wonderful employees of CHASE Bank led by volunteer coordinator, Margie Mora. We couldn't have served all our guests without their help.
In addition, we would like to thank Ty Beck at Jordan Ford who provided the parking garage for everyone's convenience. Other sponsors include S.A.A.D.A. San Antonio Area Disability Advocates, Premieant, promoting self direction, H.E.B. (food and drinks), The City of San Antonio, Alamo Mobility, Kiolbassa Sausage, Calab, Inc., and Half Price Books.
"What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."
Dr. Seuss
We're hoping all your holiday wishes come true!
